Darjeeling tea is one of the most famous black teas in the world. Its notoriety is due to its great finesse and its unique aromatic themes. The Darjeeling region, located at the beginning of the Himalayas in northeast India, is characterized by its high altitude and steep hillsides. Its leaves react to the action of an insect and give the tea a characteristic muscat aroma. It is harvested from spring to autumn, but it is its spring (First Flush) and summer (Second Flush) harvests which are the most sought after for their exceptional taste characteristics. They are very different from each other.
