Rooibos and Honeybush

Also called Roibush, sometimes red tea or Maasai tea, this drink originates from a specific region of the Cederberg mountains in South Africa. It comes from a shrub (Aspalathus linearis) not very tall and narrow. It does not contain theine but different beneficial components. The shrub is pruned at its base and is completely cut into small pieces. It is then fermented, which gives it its red color. It also exists in unfermented form (green rooibos).

Often it is fragrant and makes a pleasant good hot and cold drink.

Honeybush comes from another region of South Africa and is a legume of the Fabaceae family, Cyclopia . It is prepared like Rooibos and has a slight note of honey.
